Peru Street Photography From The Mountains To The Sea Stock Photo Library | Prints Available & For Editorial
One River From the pristine waters of high mountain snow melt to the sea, the Chillon river becomes toxic and polluted with garbage accumulated from all of the poor townships that have been built along its shores. Inhabitants often rid their garbage along its banks to have it "taken away" to someplace else. Down river, the banks become a no-mans land, dangerously toxic to the poorest of Peruvian society. Children and animals are hit hardest before the polluted waters reach the ocean where all the trash and sewage ends up, washing back up onto the beaches and going out into the marine world and the fisheries that the vast majority along the coast depend on for their sustenance.
